Well, many people say that when they hear Justin Timberlake say or sing "It's Gonna be Me," that it actually sounds like he's singing, "It's Gonna be May" as in the month of May. The meme has spread on the Internet for several years with photos of Justin Timberlake with the words "It's Gonna Be May" written at the bottom, animated gifs of Justin Timberlake and "It's Gonna Be May" and even parody videos (see the sidebar to the right) that range from just changing the lyric of the song to an entire anthem that says goodbye to the month of April and welcomes the month of May. It's Gonna Be Me was released in June 2000, and from the beginning, fans mistakenly heard the word "may" instead of "me." While some thought it was Timberlake's southern accent at fault, Timberlake later stated he was actually told to pronounce "me" that way.

It didn't take long for videos to appear on YouTube highlighting Justin Timberlake's vocal styling and phrasing of "It's Gonna Be Me/May."
The parody group "Passionate Friend Time" made a full parody video that focused specifically on the month of May.
As you can see, the May meme is rather popular and has been around for several years But what came as a complete surprise was when on April 29, Justin Timberlake chose to welcome the new month on his oficial Twitter account and wrote "Can you meme yourself"

Why that was impressive in itself, it's nothing compared to Justin Timberlake's interview with Capital FM London. On May 10, Captial FM shared the following interview with Justin Timberlake on their official Facebook page. Not only did Timberlake discuss the meme, but he actually sang "It's Gonna Be May!"
