May 10 is Mother Ocean Day: Ways to Celebrate Earth's Oceans


May 10 is Mother Ocean Day. It is a time to celebrate, reflect and care for Earth's magnificent oceans. A new holiday, the South Florida Kayak Fishing Club is credited with launching the first, official Mother Ocean Day in May 2013. Since then, it has caught on and more people are taking time to celebrate the ocean.

Since May is technically spring and not everyone will have the opportunity to swim in the ocean on Mother Ocean Day, there are other ways to participate that don't require getting wet Some choose to simply visit the
ocean and clean up debris on the beach, or just take in the beauty of the scenery. Those who don't live near the ocean can enjoy videos that explore ocean and marine life. Some opt to donate to their favorite marine-based charity on this day. For those who live in warm climates and are located near the ocean, spending time exploring it's great beauty is a fantastic way to celebrate Mother Ocean Day.
