Mother Goose Day is May 1

It's May 1 and it's also Mother Goose Day. Today we celebrate the classic stories and nursery rhymes that have entertained children for centuries. Most Mother Goose nursery rhymes have passed into the public domain and you can easily access plenty of books online for free. However; you'll find that some of the earliest Mother Goose rhymes were written using old English and some might even take offense at some of the language.

Many Mother Goose rhymes; however, are perfectly fine and can easily be read to little children without any confusion. If you're concerned about the earliest, public domain Mother Goose tales and their impact on young children, then opt for current, modernized versions of these classic tales.

According to the Official Home of the Mother Goose Society, Gloria T. Delamar began Mother Goose Day in 1987. The day's motto is as follows:

"Either alone or in sharing, read childhood nursery favorites and feel the warmth of Mother Goose's embrace."
The site has ideas for people who want to celebrate Mother Goose Day, but undoubtedly, the simplest way is to read Mother Goose nursery rhymes with children.

Right now, Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscribers can download a treasure trove of Mother Goose nursery rhymes that have been updated and include notes that not only provide background information on the stories, but also offer tips for improving clarity and listener comprehension of the stories.
